If someone wants to edit out those messages which are deemed inappropriate by some guidelines then how are they going to guarantee that this noble goal is achieved? If there is a feeling that explicit material might appear in alt.sex, how about sci.med? How about flame wars on technical groups? Etc. Once someone owns the editing function they should be given the whole editing function as they've already asserted that it's somehow critical that none of this "potentially offensive" material arrive at a site. When they're finished with that, they should be given the same task with the campus telephone system. Surely many calls have nothing to do with education or research. And just as surely the possibility of lascivious activity is possible if any phone conversation goes unchecked. Then move on to campus social activities of any sort... -- -Barry Shein Software Tool & Die | {xylogics, uunet}!world!bzs | bzs@world.std.com Purveyors to the Trade | Voice: 617-739-0202 | Login: 617-739-WRLD
