We have Perfect Bytes Faxmodem, and we have found getting it to work to be a headache. The mail confirmation of fax sending broke under 4.0.3 (works under 4.1) because of a sun mail bug. The options are determined by sunview .defaults rather than a global startup file. We had to write our own plain tty sendfax and .forward files for incoming and outgoing faxes.
