The voltages in your monitor can kill you, and some of the high voltages are present for hours after you turn the power off. You don't want to have both of your hands in the monitor at the same time, because you don't want current to flow in one arm and out the other, passing through your heart on the way. Really, I can't warn you enough to be careful, especially if you are not familiar with high voltage equipment. Powering up your monitor with the case off is dangerous.
