Methinks it's not as much of a problem as it used to. 2) If you make a Swap: partition on the HD, it could actually be formatted (Quick) at every boot! Using a Swap: partition solves this problem from the ground up, and also avoids the potential problem of disk fragmentation on very loaded systems.
