I was hoping it would be an easy task, so I tried uploading TeX arcs from terminator.cc.umich.edu. I made sure I had all the files required, and ran INITEX. And that's where I would always get stuck: INITEX munches along trying to build LPLAIN, processes all the input files (such as lplain.tex, lfonts.tex, hyphen.tex, etc.) and at the end gives me the '*' prompt, asking for a command or \end. I don't know what to do at that point! I tried everything, but I never succeeded in creating LPLAIN. The documentation provided with those arcs is very brief, at best, and I am (obviously) not familiar with the installation procedure for LaTeX. Can somebody please enlighten me as to what I am doing wrong ? Are there some well-documented LaTeX arcs available via ftp somewhere ? I could probably deal with C source files, instead of binaries, since I have the LaserC compiler. More detailed instructions would help greatly, too. I would really appreciate any help with this.
