With VWS on VMS, cntl-[ is the only solution that worked for me. 2. While within emacs(on an unix machine) f11 or f4 simply hangs the program. I had no choice but disconnect telnet and start over again. (I was logged on an unix machine from vaxstation-2000 (VMS) thru telnet). 3. With only 6MB memory, DECwindows runs so slow that, untill I can get more memory or DEC does something to speed things up, I have to use VWS. Thus I could not try remapping the keyboard under X as another suggested solution.
