Does anyone know the specifications of the byte streams delivered by
the Microsoft mouse and Mouse Systems PC-mouse. I want to connect these
to a non-PC computer, so I've got to write a driver myself.

I've gotten as far as moving the pointer over the screen, but sometimes
it moves by itself. I specifically want to know about the algorithms normally
used to remove this behaviour.

Any help appreciated.
