I have been vacillating about buying a Portfolio for about 1 year now, and most of the cause of my uncertainty relates to the inability to communicate through the serial port. I have a copy of Xterm, but it came without the bootstrap routines, and I haven't yet worked out how to bootstrap it, since simply copying from and to COM is not supposed to work with binary files. I have thought about buying the Port and serial card, borrowing a parallel card long enough to transfer Xterm, but then I will inevitably have a system crash that erases it from the RAM disk.
