A significant fraction of the times that I try to place a Word document into Pagemaker it appears as a garbled heap of characters spread across the page. I have tried Cutting & Pasting, and that *sometimes* helps. I have tried placing with the `retain format' option disabled. That also works sometimes. Last night I had the problem with about half-a-dozen articles that I was putting into one publication, and it turns out that repeated attempts at placing will *eventually* work out. Any ideas what gives? I am running on an SE/30, System 6.05, 2Mb memory, and still get the problem whether I have Finder/MultiFinder and INITS/no INITS.
