I've had the exact same problem.  Running System 6.0.5 on a Mac Plus with 4 meg
RAM and Multifinder 6.1b9 - inserting a floppy bombs the system irreversibly -
an Illegal Instruction error comes up and nothing I do besides RB from MacsBuf
will recover (i.e. invoking the _Shutdown trap).  Problem disappears usually
under uniFinder, even with no inits.  I find that the problem crops up after
some serial port access (i.e. communications program).
