Well, from what I learned at our Interface Builder course, this is not the case. Due to the object oriented nature of NeXTstep programming, a LOT of setup is left for run time. The NeXT dude was saying that was why the NeXT was/is a dog at loading programs was because much of initialization and things were left to runtime. Of course there is 2.0. I've seen/worked on a NeXT with beta versions of 2.0, on an 030 Cube.
