I think this is because free software is a non-traditional and relatively new solution. Given some loving attention and some time to mature and with a goal of simple installation, it's possible that FSF will become the traditional path for the average user, accountant or not. We need to create a reality where every place that has a phone is a node on the "humanet" (humanet supercedes the internet). A GNUspreadsheet would be a great step forward.
