The call
   XClearArea (display,win,2,2,-1,-1, False) 
will crash our X Server 
(Mit X11r4 patch 14+osf, Sun SS1, Sunos 4.03c)

When it dies it it usually clears a tall, narrow rectangle a few pixels
wide from the specified window to the bottom of the screen regardless
of window boundaries.

A bug report has been sent to MIT.
