I'm writing a utility to convert XPM files to PPM files.  I have the line

#define noname_chars_per_pixel 2

in the file, but can't find anywhere where it is actually explained.  Does
this describe the number of characters I should expect for each color in
the color descriptions?  If not, what is it?  I have some XPM files with
this line and 12 character color descriptions, but programs like xloadimage(1)
ae happy with it.
