I am doing an independent study on creating a simple user interface using Xwindows.  I am using widgets to create windows and have ran into a roadblock.  How would I display text, either from a file, from stdio (I am using UNIX), or from a
string, onto a realized window?  If the answer details too much information 
please would you list where I may find the answer(ref. books, mag articles,etc).
Your help is of upmost importance and deeply appreciated.
