Not according to Siemens, the only manufacturer of blue LEDs that I know of. Apparently, it is not possible to manufacture large slabs of silicon carbide of the form necessary for making the LEDs. Unfortunately, I can't find my Siemens opto-electronic manual at the moment, so I can't quote from it.
