I wish to compare CPU performance with respect to caching strategy.
I have a few questions:

1) What useful benchmarks will tell me about CPU caching?  
   Why are they useful?  
   Where can I get (FTP) them?

2) How can I figure out how much cache my machine has (without looking)?
   For instance, I will be looking at SUN 3,4, SGI's, but I
   may wish to look at some Brand X machine (via benchmark).
