There's a very interesting article in a recent issue of Forbes -
forget the date, but the cover has "California's Fading Boom" (ironically) -
about AMD.

Sporck is quoted, quite a bit.  The article speculates that AMD's ASIC
and/or "multipurpose" (paraphrasing) lines are headed south;  imaging
and others, north.
