Keywords: ELSII,boot Message-ID: <8104@star.cs.vu.nl> Date: 1 Nov 90 09:08:12 GMT Sender: news@cs.vu.nl Distribution: comp Lines: 27 I'm installing ELS Netware level II on a COMPAQ 25e model 120. It appears that the COMPSURF utility to test and format the HD is too selfish to accept unused partitions on any HD formatted with it. What I want is to boot ELSII right from the HD, there is a bootblock on the HD because the system comes up with some message telling you to insert a boot-floppy in some drive but why does it want to do this ?. I understand that it will boot from HD in dedicated mode but thats not what I want right now. Is it at all possible to fool the network software by having a separate bootblock like Shoe-Lace which will prompt for the OS you want to boot. I guess this implies pre-formatting the HD in a number of partitions instead of using COMPSURF. Any help would be appreciated. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- J. de Vries | Never quote someone whos name you jdvries@cs.vu.nl | forgot. | - ?? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- -- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- J. de Vries | Never quote someone whos name you jdvries@cs.vu.nl | forgot. | - ??
