If it were not for me shelling out $35.00 + for Coad/Yourdon's book, I would not be complaining. IT'S MY FAULT. However, I feel compelled to let others know that, Object-Oriented Design with Applications - Grady Booch Is, - Analytical rather than necessarily definitive - Practical rather than ideally conceptual - Artfully written and Illustrative rather than...trivial - A comprehensive book rather than a quick effort to define a standard - GOOD rather than BAAAD! It should be obvious that I prefer the book by Booch rather than Coad/Yourdon. I have spoke with others that feel the same. Do not get me wrong. I mean no harm to the authors. I simply want to warn others that, If you are looking for a brainstorming session on how to draw sketches of objects and the relationships between them -- get Coad/Yourdons book (Haahmmm). However, if you are looking for a very well written book on Concepts, Methods, and Applications of the object oriented model -- GET BOOCHS book. It is a real piece of work with diverse perspectives. For instance, Booch relates Classification to other sciences such as Zoology. Anyway, in summary BOOCH - GOOD! Coad/Yourdon - Get it if you have $$$ to spend and after you have read Booch Hope this Commentary saves some of you some money.
