My drives also work well under DOS but I often get "Drive not ready" even when a disk is in the drive. Retry often solves the problem but sometimes it does NOT and the machine crashes badly, and hitting three times Ctrl-Alt-NumLock is required to reboot (Ctrl-Alt-Del does not work). This is always nice for the HPFS ... When I boot OS/2 from a floppy, I also sometimes get "cannot access country.sys" but not as often as you write. I couldn't yet figure it out what the problem is (probably timing problems or interrrupts from the controller) and there is no solution.
