They need to be used concurrently. Steps Performed were: mkdev tcp added a SLIP driver defined the tty set the source and destination IP address set baud rate to 9600 used the SLIP Interface default netmask when the Kernel was re-linked and the system re-booted, it hung up at TCP initialization.
