You can purchase a modem surge protector for a PC.I have one, think I
got from Radio Shack, maybe Jameco, or somewhere. It plugs into a
three-prong outlet & has jack outlets for lines from the phone box
and the line to my modem. I guess it's supposed to shunt to the electrical
ground. Hope it works when/if....
