When I installed 4D 2.1, I think I had to go in and set the bundle
bit; what tipped me off was that the icon for 4D was the generic icon
rather than the standard 4D icon.  If the bundle bit isn't set, the
desktop file won't know that other files could have been created by
this one, and thus the finder won't know to start up 4D 2.1 when your
4D program file is double-clicked.  Use ResEdit or something (BundAid
would probably work, and is available via anon ftp from sumex), and
maybe rebuild your desktop, and see if that helps.
