Rapport/Drive 2.4? Message-ID: <1990Oct30.093939.3197@csc.anu.oz.au> Date: 29 Oct 90 23:39:37 GMT Organization: Computer Services, Australian National University Lines: 21 Opinions sought on upgrading an SE the SE to SE/30 upgrade is annoying: it doesn't include either the 40 meg hard disk of the SE/30 OR the FDHD AND it removes one of the internal 800k drives (well, at least, the SE/30 board cannot support both 800k drives). Here in Australia, I can get a new SE/30 for $4700, cf the upgrade for $1900 (and the FDHD upgrade for an extra $600) ($A1 = $US0.78) Can one purchase the Apple upgrade mail order for the US Anyway: is this upgrade better than getting one of the faster accelerators? Another question: the Rapport and Drive 2.4 are being sold off here (total cost $400 for the both of them) - is this a good way to go? Does the Rapport/Drive 2.4 work? [I would like to have some degree of ability to read MS-DOS disks - part of the reason that I would like to get an FDHD] *====*===*===*===*===*===*===*===*===*===*===*===*===*===*===*===* Phil Ryan ANU Department of Physics and Theoretical Physics Canberra, Australia pfr654@csc.anu.oz.au phone:(61 6) 249 4678 fax:(61 6) 249 0741
