Pk., MD 20742 Lines: 17 My friend has an SE/30 into which he has attempted to install 3 Cutting Edge monitor-card/monitor combinations (2 page black & white), and 2 MegaScreen Rivals (also 2 page black & white). He has had a wide range of non-functional outcomes: 1) crashing when "identifying" from the monitors cdev; 2) recognizing the card (without crashing) but the monitor not showing anything; 3) working fine for about 3 days and then going to outcome #2. He had one of the cards checked out by the folks at MegaGraphics - it was OK. Some of the cards were installed by professionals. With so much failure it seems like the fault might be in the SE/30, but the SE/30 seems to be working fine in other respects. Question: what could be causing this? Has anyone else had a similar experience? Is the direct slot known to be flakey? If so, can it be de-flakified? (How much $$?) Thanks for any insights. -Lee (spector@cs.umd.edu)
