Virtually any terminal emulation program will send an ESC if you press the keys equivalent to Control/[ (that's left bracket). Of the programs I've used, both White Knight and ZTerm can be configured to treat the backquote key ` (at the upper left-hand corner of most keyboards) as Escape; ZTerm has this feature enabled by default, White Knight comes disabled. The setting is easily changed by calling up the appropriate dialog box (which is usually called something like "Keyboard Options"; I'm not at my Mac at the moment). (White Knight can actually allow *any* ASCII character to be sent by the backquote key; the default ASCII value of 27 specifies Escape.) -- Russ rsfinn@{athena,lcs}.mit.edu
