On the Devloper's CD Volume V, there's an updated version of that
document (the Word version of it is 589K).  The TeachText file with it
says:

"This chapter covers the new Sound Manager as found in System Software
6.0.6 as well as that which is planned for System 7.0.  Refer to
Inside Macintosh, Volume VI for the complete and accurate description
of the System 7.0 Sound Manager.  The information given in this
chapter is still preliminary for System 7.0."

I assume it will show up on apple.com fairly soon.
