Under certain conditions (to hot ? to humid ?) they begin to flicker (it's really a flickering, not the usual glimmering): The screen is normally rather bright, but sometimes he gets a bit darker (maybe 30%) for some seconds. We made a test: the screen is bad, not the logical unit. Now SUN-microsystems offers a kind of super service: They come with a (repaired second-hand ?) screen, and replace ours with no delay. The unpleasant point is, that this "repair" costs about sFr 2000.-- (that's about US$ 1500.--) per screen. That is almost the price of a new one, and we have two of them. Also it is not in our sense to "throw away" a whole screen, just because maybe a small resistor has to be replaced. so: WHO KNOWS THIS FAULT AND HAS EXPERIENCE IN REPAIRING IT ? OR IS THAT JUST NOT POSSIBLE WITH A REASONABLE EFFORT ? Please post a detailed instruction, as I suggest there are many other, who have the same problem. strassen@iam.unibe.ch Overseas: strassen%iam.unibe.ch@relay.cs.net UNI Bern, IAM, Laenggassstr. 51, 3012 Bern, Switzerland CH- 031/65 49 98
