Re:     Trouble in converting a dvi file produced by latex to postscript

I am just bringing up latex on my Sun and was able to run the sample.tex
through latex to produce sample.dvi.  When I try to convert this dvi file
to a ps file using "dvi2ps" I get the following error:

        [util/lib/TeX/ps/tex.ps]  dvi2ps: internal - pre-string - TeX output

        got POST command
        now reading font defsReadFontDef k=15 c=1327620741 s=458752 d=458752
        a=0 l=5 n=cmsy7 mag=300 gmag=1000
        dvi2ps: Substituted font cmsy7.300gf -> /usr/local/lib/tex/fonts/gf
        opening (new slot) font file /usr/local/lib/tex/fonts/gf

        dvi2ps: FATAL -- bad gf font file /usr/local/lib/tex/fonts/gf
        char 0 offset 506 case 5

I created the gf fonts using "pktogf" under the mfware directory and the file
is created but I'm not sure if its good or bad.  If you have any suggestions
for me it would be much appreciated (if you want a copy of the font file to
examine, let me know)
