Path: utzoo!utgpu!news-server.csri.toronto.edu!rutgers!apple!mips!prls!pyramid!leadsv!artb From: artb@leadsv.UUCP (Art Beckman) Newsgroups: comp.unix.ultrix Subject: Yellow Pages and nameserver Keywords: YP bind Message-ID: <13732@leadsv.UUCP> Date: 31 Oct 90 04:03:48 GMT Distribution: usa Organization: LOCKHEED, Sunnyvale, CA Lines: 18 We use three machines as YP masters: a Sun 1 running 4.03, an SGI 4D/50 running 3.2, and a DECstation 3100 running Ultrix 4.0. On the Sun we use makedbm -b to get YP to search the nameserver as part of a YP search. Unfortunately, there is no such option in the makedbm man page for Ultrix. YP clients which bind to the Ultrix machine are not able to search the nameserver. The svcconf file has hosts=local, bind,yp for local searches. Anyone have a clue? Please reply to me and I will summarize. Thanks! Arthur A.
