A week isn't long enough. At the New Mexico Commission for the Blind, all new staff members go to our Audlt Orientation center for six weeks, and take training using a blind fold. We have found that this is about the minimum time necessary to overcome your fear and develop enough skill so that you know that you could do well as a blind person. You won't have great skills in six weeks, but you will learn enough to see that you could do so. Experience in Nebraska, which does the same thing, has shown that three months is actually the best time frame for such training. David Andrews ...
