I have the following 2 lines in my "news" crontab:

23 5,7,9,11,13,15,17,21,23,1,3 * * * /usr/lib/news/trn/mthreads >/dev/null
23 19 * * * /usr/lib/news/trn/mthreads -e >/dev/null

(Never have any problems)
