Hello!
  Some time ago I purchased a credit card size personal electronic
notebook (called DataStore 8000, from Selectronics). It is a nice
thing, with 8K of persistent memory, clock/calendar and several
day/hour alarms. It costs only 20$, and it was carried by several mail
order places like Damark and maybe DAK.  Besides normal
keyboard/display it has a connector allowing it to upload/download
data; I plan to use the printer port in my PC to do it. I obtained the
electrical characteristics of this connector, but when I called
Selectronics to get the data formats and such, they claimed it
proprietary. They sell the cable and downloading program for 50$,
which, compared to the price of the 'hardware', seems steep. Knowing
the basics, I want to reverse engineer the thing. The questions are
 1) Did anyone do it already?
 2) Is anyone interested in info exchange?
 3) Is there another newsgroup to which I could post?
