Message-ID: <3128@sud509.ed.ray.com> Date: 8 Nov 90 20:36:24 GMT Sender: rossperr@sud509.ed.ray.com (Fred Ross-Perry @ Raytheon Company, Sudbury MA) Organization: Raytheon Company, Sudbury MA Lines: 13 We are contemplating what kind of hardware and o/s to use to build an ORACLE server. It will be an OLTP type of application, using SQL*Net with clients on all sorts of other platforms, geographically distributed. There may be potentially hundreds of simultaneous conenctions to the database, with between 2 and 10 transactions per second likely. We want something cheap, reliable and fast (obviously). Also, disk shadowing or mirroring is a plus, for data reliability. DEC's trying to interest us in a VAX 4000, I'm wondering if we could do this with some sort of 486 EISA box. Takers?
