Does anybody know how to modify the traditional DEC ethernet transceivers
to disable the heartbeat?  Someone mentioned one only need snip a wire,
the question being exactly which...

I've got piles of DEC transceivers, but have been buying/installing
Cabletron units for thin-wire converters - this seems wastefull...
