I am trying to send mail via USR Courier 9600s to a TI-1500 multiuser system running a System V-compatible Unix (also with USR 9600's. Their ports are configured to be odd parity, while my ports are configured to no parity. The system being called identifies itself with odd parity, which seems to be misunderstood by my system. The calling system eventually times out and gives up. The debug information UUCP provides shows garbage (actually 7 bit characters with odd parity) where the machine name should be, which my machine cannot interpret. Because of this, my UUCP never recognizes that it has made a connection with the correct machine. My system needs to stay at no parity -- we communicate with other systems, using the same modems and UUCP parameters, and have no difficulty whatsoever. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Please respond via E-mail directly. -- Dan veeneman@mot.com
