I forwarded some correspondence I had with cisco directly to
Peter but did not think it appropriate to send this everyone.  

If others are interested in this feature I would suggest letting
cisco know and perhaps cisco can respond to the list.

cisco didn't actually say that they wouldn't implement this
feature; just that it would require "hardware assist."
