Well, I think justification is for babies :-), but I like auto-fill-mode.
It took some detective work to find the relevant portion of the manual.
An example used was:

    (setq text-mode-hook
        '(lambda () (auto-fill-mode 1)))

The problem is that auto-fill-mode is a minor mode that gets reset for
every buffer.  It is necessary to use the hook to have it restarted
for every new text buffer.  -David-
