Can anyone give me a reference on the TIFF format file 
structure.  I am generating 256 bit gray scale images
from my HP scanner on my MAC. I am saving them in a
TIFF format. I would like to write a C program to process
and display them. I can not find any explanation of what
a TIFF file is.

Are there any public domain (free) software for the MAC
or DOS machine available???
