Problem is that I use "curses mode" and like to check that my complicated pick pattern is right by doing ":pick ", then after letting the stuff flow past (yes, it's a memory mapped screen) I say ":pick | whatever". I suppose it's not difficult to pop into line mode to do this, but it'll be a while before it comes naturally .... As a matter of interest, why does the :escape command not get put in the history in the first place ? Historical reasons ?
