Is it likely that I could >mount a floppy with a mountable MINIX FS on it on an AT&T 3B1?? I am Sorry. This won't work. The MINIX FS is quite different than the real UNIX filesystems---the superblock is different, the inodes are missing some date & time information that UNIX keeps, and free space is kept track of with a bitmap, quite unlike UNIX's free space list held in unused blocks. In other words, UNIX would need a heck of a lot of work done to it to be able to mount MINIX filesystems. You should be able to "tar cf - | vol 1200 /dev/at0" if your 3B1 can read 1.2M floppy disks and if tar on the 3B1 has been hacked to handle tarfiles spanning several disks. This method would be a lot faster than using kermit. > bill gunshannon > 702WFG@SCRVMSYS.BITNET -- Guy Helmer helmer@sdnet.bitnet, dsuvax!ghelmer@cs.utexas.edu work: DSU Computing Services, Business & Education Institute (605) 256-5315 play: MidIX System Support Services (605) 256-2788 postnews: message content ambiguous; spurious information added as required
