Hopefully, this will be a little better. Ethernet ------------- Ethernet ========================| IP Router |======================= | ------------- | | | | | | | -------------- ------------- | FastPath A | | FastPath B| -------------- ------------- | | | | AppleTalk Zone A AppleTalk Zone B | | | | ---------------- ---------------- | QuickMail & | | QuickMail | | GatorMail | | MailCenter B | | Mailcenter A | | | ---------------- ---------------- We recently installed a Fastpath 4 as a gateway from our Appletalk Zone A to the University's Ethernet backbone. It is a Kinetics FastPath4 with K-Star 8.0, prom version 4.1. The box is a J revision, the one that's supposed to have all the hardware problems fixed. In Zone B, there is a similar Fastpath. In our Appletalk Zone A, I have a mailserver set up with Quickmail and Gatormail mailcenters. In Zone B, there is a mailserver with only Quickmail mailcenters. My problem is that whenever anyone using QuickMail in Zone B tries to send mail to people in Zone B, the FastPath A crashes, and has to be power cycled and re-booted. The mere act of seeking Mailcenter A from Zone B causes the FastPath A to crash. However, I can send mail to Zone B without a problem. In addition, if users in Zone B use the reply function in QuickMail to respond to mail sent from Zone A, it comes through to Zone A fine. Conferencing also works dandy. There is no problem in sending Unix mail from other machines on the Ethernet. Does anybody out there have any idea what might be going on? I spoke with tech support at CE, and at their suggestion, removed the GatorMail mailcenter, but it made no difference. They also suggested checking if files can be transferred from Zone B to Zone A, but it works as it's supposed to. Any help would be appreciated. Ravi D Pradhan
