Actually, you can usually use double quotes to indicate the current
directory.

e.g.  copy df0:testfile ""

so, it is not quite as bad as:

copy df0:testfile /whatevermycurrentdirectorynameis


I hope this helps.  (I didn't know about it for quite a while...)
