Message-ID: <1990Nov8.071012.20403@ux1.cso.uiuc.edu> Date: 8 Nov 90 07:10:12 GMT Sender: news@ux1.cso.uiuc.edu (News) Organization: University of Illinois at Urbana Lines: 36 This post has two purposes: 1) to inform the people who were having trouble with GSCII crashing after the stdfile dialogs 2) to mention the progress on GSCII+ first, I found the problem (I think) with GSCII that caused it to crash after the file selecting... GSCII has to start up the stdfile and list tools by itself, and I had made a typo (must have been one of those 4 o'clockers) that COULD sometimes the list toolbox not to be started... GSCII + should fix this, we'll see how it goes.. second, GSCII+ is almost finished. I have to implement the binscii encoding and it will be ready for testing. I decided not to implement binhex encoding, the NDA is getting big enough (50k). It will decode mac resources encoded into binhex files in two ways: 1. to a file separate from the resource fork (you can use resource spy to look at these, I've converted a few fonts already.) 2. to the resource fork of the original file. This second method is supported because GSHK does it, and someday someone might come up with a resource converter... if you think that 50k is too big for a DA, please mail me and I will either produce a GSCii 2.0 without binhex or I will re-do the entire project in assembler... just depends on the demand. So, I need beta testers for GSCII+ v1.0 -- + Derek Taubert --> derek@mrcnext.cso.uiuc.edu + Author of : GSCii + + dat33228@uxa.cso.uiuc.edu + {MUCH more to come...} + + "Well, ...lettuce is a transformation of a dead cougar that suffered a + + relapse on a lion's toe.
