I've got it to boot up fine, but I can't get the ncd to fire up xdm automatically upon bootup from the hp. I have to telnet over to the host and the restart xdm, (update the /etc/Xservers file) and this works fine. However, when the xterm boots up of the bootcode, it comes up with a setup menu. And one of these submenus is the 'XDM parameters' menu. In this menu you cen tell the ncd about the server that it needs to get xdm from and it will go off and get it. (Without any modifactions to any of the config files on the server. The server just recieves some XDMCP packets from the xterm and consequently fires off the extra xdm for the xterm.) This works fine if the machine is a Pmax (Decstation 2100, running ultrix 4.0), the problem is that the hp needs to be the server and it never responds to the packets from the xterm. Running xdm in debug mode proves this, the hp never prints out any sort of ack or request. While the DS prints out oodles upon oodles of response and will fire up xdm for the xterm. Both machines (DS and HP) are running the mit distribution of X11R4. Any response would be appreciated, Thanks, greg Greg Sylvain Academic Computing Services Systems Programmer UUCP: ...!{uunet}!umbc5!greg Internet (Arpa) : greg@umbc5.umbc.edu BITNET : GREGS@UMBC
