I am running an application that uses large files on the disk.
Because of this, I am limited by the latency and throughput of my
disk.  I want to upgrade, but I am not familiar with the
manufacturers. 

Can knowledgable people email some recommendations for some fast hard
disks?  I would like to know the manufacturer, the speed and a rough
idea of the cost.  Please include a range of products as I may not be
able to afford the top of the line.  I'll summarize if enough people
are interested.
