I think it also representes some of the cluelessness of Apple. At the announcement of the Mac Classic, Apple management was gushing over how they'd sold more MacClassics than any other Mac in the history of the product line. If Apple had dropped the prices on their product line one to two years ago, lord knows what might have happened....
