I have no Idea what window manager you were running, because the dec window manager and session manager, especially under decwindows does not support focus follows pointer. Indeed, on the VaxStation I am working on there has been a hack written which allowed you to have focus follows pointer, it was IMPOSSIBLE in the dec supplied stuff. About the cursor always being on the screen -- Well gee, I personally could not deal with a cursor that went away. I would always want to be able to see the cursor, it would really suck If I didn't.
