We'd like to upgrade to a 4/490, but we don't have the money to replace the controllers and disks with the new IPI technology. Also, I don't believe that faster disks would be that much of a win. I have heard rumors that the 4/490 does not support SMD drives. Is this true? If so, does anyone care to speculate as to when and if the 4/490 will support SMD? Email me, and if there is enough interest I will summarize. Thanks, Charles H. Buchholtz chip@ee.upenn.edu Systems Programmer Electrical Engineering University of Pennsylvania.
